The Secret BH1 & KT30~
The Boilie is not dead, it is only being reinvented
INTRODUCTION
After a considerable amount of requests to supply boilies by our ever-increasing customer base, we the team at JustBait decided to look into the possibilities. The big problem was that all boilies on the market today were all made from different combinations of the same base ingredients, as they had been for the last 30 plus years. The only thing that had progressed were the attractors and additives which were being used to give new life to an old concept so what would be the point in producing a boilie that fell into the same category as all the rest. This is not what JustBait is all about, our aim is to be as innovative and different in as many ways as possible and our promise was to keep the anglers using our baits in front of the rest of the crowd.
In order to rise to the challenge what we needed was someone with a vast knowledge of bait production but innovative enough to re-develop the boilie in such a way that it did not fall into the realms of what had been done before. The person would also need to have an acute knowledge of the carps behaviour and requirements.
After some considerable searching the name Brian Hewitt kept popping up so we contacted him and put forward our proposal and after several conversations Brian eventually agreed under two conditions:
1/ That we did not cut any corners on quality.
2/ That we spare no expense on the necessary research.
Well we nervously agreed but Brian soon put our nervousness to bed with his knowledge and well balanced approach to complex problems, so who better to explain the principles behind The Secret BH1 than Brian himself.

Brian Hewitt~
It was no easy decision for me to step back into the realms of bait manufacture as my experiences in the past puts you heavily in the firing line, for number one, criticism, and number two, for constantly being in demand by other anglers, who rightly so want to take up your time with their questions and concerns.
As experienced in the past just as I am about to pull into a large carp two feet from the margins another angler walks up and starts asking me questions, as I said no easy decision but here I am.
As mentioned above by Dave there was no reason in my eyes to develop just another bait, so the task was set to re-develop a boilie with totally new ingredients.
The first step was to look at all the ingredients that had been used heavily in the past, especially those used in all boilies.
These ingredients that make up an integral bait structure and have done for many years are what I call common denominators, i.e: eggs, milk proteins, soya products, colourings and preservatives. Some of which like soya have low conversion rates to body mass. I personally have never liked soya products as they have a tendency to turn baits rancid very quickly if used in large quantities, making baits float to the surface after just a day or so. (How many of you have used baits that do this during a session). Clearly no good for a long term pre-baiting programme.
The reason for eliminating the above common denominators is that carp have become accustomed to them and are perfectly able to detect these products as they become soluble in water, and have become extremely wary around baits containing them, after all they have been present in almost all boilies for the last thirty years in some form or another, so they all had to go.
Over the last few years new research has been done with fish nutrition with regards to conversion of food items to body mass and overall health. The one thing that is totally conclusive is that if one item is lacking in a fish diet i.e: a vitamin, mineral,or part of the amino chain, even a lack of the correct lipid supply, all the other ingredients however good they are cannot be utilised to their full efficiency. This can result in lack of weight gain, ill health and in extreme cases increased mortality. The early signs of this are FISH NOT FEEDING and that is the most detrimental thing any angler is faced with, you cannot catch carp if they are off the feed.
After searching the globe for new materials we have finally done it and we have called it THE SECRET BH1. No eggs, no milk proteins, no soya products, no colourings and preservatives.THE SECRET BH1 is not just an HNV bait, it is a high biological value bait, although we cannot tell you what is in the bait we can tell you it contains everything that carp require to sustain a healthy existence. Nothing has been left out right down to the smallest and what may seem like the most insignificant elements. It also do not contain anything that the carp do not require as we have designed the profile specifically for carp, i.e: the correct vitamin, mineral, amino, protein, carbohydrate and lipid requirements only. We have not used off the shelf products in any way or form, as an example like most bait companies using amino and vitamin profiles designed for human or animal supplements.
Why the secret you may ask, well because it will remain a secret. It will only be available in it’s finished form, you will not be able to purchase the base mix or the attractors separately. Our reason for this is to stop other bait companies and anglers from adding our ingredients and additives to an inferior base mix, as this could result in anglers catching off the hard work of other anglers who have been pre-baiting and using our products. Which in turn would render our bait less effective. That will be our promise to all who use it, as the test results have proven that the more that goes in as in it’s true form over a sustained period the more the carp will get on it and stay on it for a long period of time.
KT30
The KT30 has been developed on the same principles as the SECRET BH1, but using different base materials. The big difference with the KT30 is the high leakage, water can get right into the boilie to release all those essential attractors making it the perfect instant winter and summer bait. The durability of the KT30 in water is about eighteen hours, after which it is recommended to change the hook bait, however if you are on fish I very much doubt it will be in the water that long. The KT30 really is instant, most of the field testers using the KT30 have caught fish first time out. The first time I used it myself I plumbed the spot, put out half a kilo of KT30, cast out the first rod only to have the line pulled out of my fingers as I was putting the bobbin on. The fish then promptly wrapped itself around the marker float creating a right mess, well it doesn’t get much more instant than that. I had sixteen fish that day just into double figures, which completely miffed off the other ten anglers on the lake, some of which had been there for two days for only one or two fish.
Although the KT30 has been developed to be an instant bait it still has a high biological value and contains all the necessary elements that carp require, just like the SECRET BH1 giving it a long life expectancy on any water, just keep it going in especially in winter and you will continue to catch. Oh and if you are brave enough to taste one you will be astonished as to how good they actually do taste.
Well I guess that’s all I can say for now without giving too much away, but one thing is for certain if you want to stay ahead of other anglers keep watching this space. We aim to be first not second with new revolutionary products the rest will just be following. We are currently sourcing a new product that no other bait company even knows exists, the potential of this product is phenomenal to say the least, so keep checking this space if you want to be first and get onto the latest developments, but be patient good research takes time especially when things come from the other side of the world.
May your rods bend and reel seats creak, good luck and best wishes.
